Hurricane Irene

Hi friends and family!
Just wanted to let everyone know that we have decided to evacuate...aka, go away for the weekend and enjoy some time together as a family. We will be in Roanoke until Monday and will then make plans to see if we can get back in town depending on damage and flooding. We are safe, have everything we need and are taking all precautions. I was so worried yesterday about all the "what-ifs", worried for the girls, worried that if I needed emergency services, either we couldn't make it to them or them to us. I started contracting from all the stress and with only a few weeks to go we can't chance preterm labor. We decided it would be best for all of us to not take any chances and try and have a relaxing weekend away (but close to a hospital). We will pray our friends that are staying and our new little house stays safe! We will post an update as soon as we know what we are going home to. Probably power outage but hopefully no property damage.

Jellies and Ribs

I wish I was talking about donuts and bbq...no, this is a preggie update but not food related. I'm now in the home stretch and can say "I'm having a baby next month!" Unless Ben decides to be late. With only weeks to go finally something interesting has happened in my pregnancy. I will throw in that I am so very blessed to have such easy, low risk, zero complications in pregnancy. But, something did come up last week. I dislocated a rib. Well, Ben dislocated my rib. I'm so short waisted this little guy has no where to go, so in his attempts to stretch out a bit, knocked rib 6 on right out of place, OUCH!! I've been seeing a fantastic chiropractor and am feeling good again but my bum rib continues to slip out of place 2-5 times a day. I have mastered the technique of "popping it back in" but man, its not fun.

In other news, I got stung by a jellyfish at the beach 2 days ago. It burned SO bad but eventually eased up once my dad told me how to treat it. I'm just glad it wasn't the girls that got stung. Cecily was right there with me but thankfully it didn't touch her. We hurried out of the water and headed home and after 24 hours there are no lasting effects.

I'm just telling myself that these are "opportunities" for me to practice my relaxation and breathing techniques for labor. Oh well, at least Owen feels inclined to practice his massages on me when I'm in pain. I'll never pass up a sympathy massage!
