Hurricane Irene-UPDATE

We made it home with little trouble...a lot of places were still without power so fueling up and finding food were a bit tricky. Our house faired fine. There was a lot of clean up for Owen in the front and back yards. Lots of tree limbs and small branches down but nothing destructive, thank goodness!! The girls are happy to be home but frequently talk about our weekend away at the castle to stay away from the big storm :)

While my stress levels have certainly diminished, there is still a lot do before Ben arrives. I'm trying to keep my expectations reasonable but my mommy horomones are screaming *you-have-to-get-everything-done-before-the-baby-arrives!* And with all this I'm still having contractions...nothing regular (hopefully productive) every 5-20 mins. Early labor. Prodromal labor its called, aka false labor. I had it with Cecily 2 weeks before she came! And I'm 36 weeks now so I'm hoping this doesn't mean I'm having a baby in 2 weeks. I had honestly talked myself into believing we were having an October baby...probably not going to happen. These contractions aren't super uncomfortable, I'd just call them noticeable and not fun (I'm having one right now, haha!)

In other news Owen started his internship with NATO and LOVES LOVES LOVES it!!! He started working on publications this week, we'll post a link to them once they're up so you can see what he's working on. Libya, Gadaffi, piracy, etc. Now we just have to get them to pay him and he'll be set for life :) He also starts classes tonight and is really excited about it! I mentioned to him today that I can almost say I graduated from college 10 years ago!! Man, I'm getting old. Owen loves school and being a student and will probably always be involved in academia in one form or another. But I tell him he's got to wait at least another 30 years before he's allowed to wear a tweed jacket with leather elbow patches :)
