That pretty much sums up Cecily's birth experience. I'm sitting here in recovery Utah Valley looking at my sleeping beauty and figure I'll take advantage of the internet service on my blackberry. Here are the details and I hesitate to post this because I know it is VERY RARE that things happen this way!
I do give myself some credit. I went into labor last Saturday! See previous post. Things never kicked into active labor so I came in yesterday for my induction knowing that they would kick things into gear for me.
WELL...
7am we get to the hospital
7:30am we are checked in and in our room
8am IV
8:30 Pitocin
9am water broken, I'm at a 3
9:30am epidural, Dr Lind is amazing!
10:30am Owen runs to Panda Express, he's starving. Told him not to rush...since it takes me forever to dilate.
11am Owen's back and eating, I'm resting.
11:30am nurse comes in to check me, I'm a 5. She tells me to call her if I start to feel "pressure".
10mins later...Owen had finished lunch and we figured we still had a ways to go so he set his alarm so we could cat nap. He had just helped me flip over so I would be more comfortable and I felt Cecily shift in my tummy...it felt weird. With the next contraction I felt an uncomfortable "pressure" so I gave myself a dose of meds. With the next contraction I felt my body pushing! Wait this isn't normal! I told Owen and called the nurse. I was embarrassed because she was JUST in and said I was at a 5.
The nurse rushes in, checks me "don't cough! Her head is right there!" she runs out to call Dr Savage and I start blowing through contractions. I had dilated from a 5 to a 10 in 11 minutes!!!
My Dr comes in minutes later and with the next contraction she has me push and Cecily enters the world as easy as can be. No stitches no nothing, it was so surreal it happened so fast!
After 6 days of total discomfort this delivery was such a blessing! We are so happy to have our sweet baby here happy and healthy.
As soon as we get home we'll put some pictures up!
